This configuration information is intended for Canvas LMS Administrators.
Please use the following configuration information to create the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool in your
Canvas environment.
1. Navigate to the Admin area for your Canvas environment.
2. Select Developer Keys in the navigation bar on the left, then select + Developer Key, followed
by +LTI Key.
3. Enter the following information:
• Method: Manual Entry
• Key Name: BryteWave Deep Link
• Owner Email: [Leave this field blank]
• Redirect URIs:

4. Select Save. A BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool is now created in your Canvas environment.
5. Change the state of the Tool to “On” and record the Client ID of the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool. You will provide the Client ID to RedShelf to complete enablement of your BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool.
6. Select Settings in the navigation bar on the left, then select Apps, followed by View App Configurations.
7. Select + App, then enter the following information and select Submit, followed by Install:
• Configuration Type:
• By Client ID
• Client ID:
• [Enter the Client ID from Step 5]
8. Find the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool Link in the list of applications, then select the gear icon to the right of the name of the Tool Link, followed by Deployment ID.
9. Record the Deployment ID of the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool Link. You will provide the Deployment ID to RedShelf to complete enablement of your BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool.
10. Provide the Client ID and Deployment ID to your RedShelf account representative via this
survey link. They will enable your BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool Link.
NOTE: If you are enabling either or both of the Automated Roster Transfer or Automated Tool Placement integrations, please wait to provide your Client ID and Deployment ID until after you enable those integrations, as they require additional information to be sent to RedShelf.

11. Navigate to a module in one of your courses into which you want to place a BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool Link and select + to the right of the module name.
12. Select External Tool in the drop-down at the top of the pop-up window, then select the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool Link from the list of applications.
13. Select “My Shelf”, then rename the link to “BryteWave Course Materials” and select Create Link. This brings you back to your Canvas window to finish configuration of your BryteWave
LTI 1.3 Tool.
NOTE: Your screen may have the red message in the screenshot below. This is expected
behavior, and does not mean your LTI Tool is misconfigured. Please proceed with these steps.
14. Check the box beside Load in a new tab, then select Add Item. This places a link to the selected location into a course module in your LMS course.
15. Select the circle with a line through it to the right of the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool link to
publish the link to students.
16. Click the BryteWave Course Materials link to ensure your LTI 1.3 Tool has been configured
correctly.
17. Click the BryteWave Course Materials link on the left course navigation bar to ensure your
LTI 1.3 Tool has been configured correctly.
NOTE: Your screen may have the red message in the screenshot below. This is expected
behavior, and does not mean your LTI Tool is misconfigured.
LTI 1.3 Instructions
Here are step-by-step instructions to add the RedShelf LTI 1.3 tool to a course shell in Canvas. You may play the video embedded below this list for a demonstration.

On the left-hand menu, select “Courses”. Then select the course which will contain the LTI
tool. -
In the course menu, select “Modules”.

Select the “+” button next to the module which will contain the BryteWave Course
Materials tool. -
Select "External Tool" in the drop-down at the top of the pop-up.

Select the “ Follett BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool” Tool.

Select “MyShelf ”, then rename the link to “BryteWave Course Materials” in the Link Name
box. -
Select “Create Link”.

Check the box for "Load in a new tab".

Select “Add Item” to finish adding the LTI tool to the module.

Select the circle with a line through it to the right of the BryteWave LTI 1.3 Tool link to
publish the link to students. -
Click the “BryteWave Course Materials“ link to ensure your LTI 1.3 Tool has been
configured correctly.
**Please note, the following video is a visual aid and specifies that it is for the RedShelf LTI Tool, but the same instructions above should still be followed!
Please Note:
Due to restrictions on how the LTI tool works, you might not have the option to impersonate a student experience (usually known as "Student View"). The professor and student experience are exactly the same. If you try to open the LTI view through a "Student View" you'll receive an error. An error outside of "student view" most likely means that your course has not yet been configured on RedShelf's side. Most course materials are made available 1-2 weeks before the term starts. If the error persists, please feel free to reach out to support directly.
